Youth ASB in the Town centre

Issued: 6 Feb 2026

Status Update

We have conducted numerous High visibility patrols in the area. Ulverston Town Centre has been created as a hot spot for the government funded Operation Enhance which sees police officers conducting visible foot patrol on a regular though randomised basis for the next few months. Since we have targeted this area we have identified a number of youths involved, made arrests and taken several young people to court. Most recently we obtained an Anti-social behaviour order against one young person and another young person is currently detained in secure accommodation. We have done inputs into local schools around responsible behaviour and we continue to work with a number of agencies to provide outreach work and look for ways to keep young people out of crime as well as continuing to maintain a firm stance against ASB and offending. Of the young people identified as causing the town the most issue in 2024 75% are no longer offending, and the behaviour of the others has mostly reduced and continues to be addressed.
